Choosing the best ECG book: ECG made easy or completely?

Difficult to see lines on ECGs. These books are an incredibly poor reproduction of the original print! It looks as though someone ran off copies of the original and bound them. It is especially unfortunate since print quality is so critical when reading ECGs! We downloadd these to supplement our library for 3rd year medical students in the IM Clerkship, and we have to tell them to look for the spiral bound versions. The quality is so much worse in these new copies we ordered.

I can't tell of any differences in copyright, or edition, or publisher; which makes me wonder if Blackwell Publishing really was defrauded. One person found this helpful. This is a great book for a doctor or medical student who wants to get an understanding of how to analyze ECG's in a clinial setting; it is not designed for the technician who simply wants to learn rhythm interpretation.

The first half of this books explains how to interpret the 12 lead ECG, and the second half of the book provides practice ECG's. THis is an excellent book, but there are a few important points about this book that should be considered if you tink that this is the book for you: Taylor also writes for an audience that knows some basic information about cardiac physiology, so he does not explain much of this either.

Many of the practice ECG's are pretty advanced. Much of this book is geared not simply toward ECG interpretation, but toward clinical decision making based on clinical history and ambiguous ECG findings. Overall an excellent book if one already knows aome cardiovascular physiology and wants to get an understanding of how to apply this to 12 ECG interpretation for the purpose of medical decision making.

By the end of his book, I feel ready to read most any ECG. There is a large variety of tracings so the reader gets practice reading both simple tracings as well as the more challenging ones. Overall this is an excellent text for ECG interpretation and the clinical application. Here it is. My mental notes were limited. However, as the days went by, my knowledge began to increase and I recognized more and more characteristics in each EKG. I took an initial first pass and reviewed the EKG.

I made a mental note of characteristics such as biphasic T waves, Q waves, and flipped T waves. At EKGs per day and a few days off throughout your review, this will take about months.

Read it like a book and be deliberate.

Take what is being described in the text and identify the characteristics in the EKG. There are two kinds of notecards.

Type 1 is simply taking an important point and writing it on the front of the note card. Nothing on the back.

The Only EKG Book You'll Ever Need

No flipping. Type 1 notecard For Type 2 notecards, a statement or question is written on the front and an answer or explanation is written on the back.

These are meant to be flipped.
